Our History
1981
RC Productions forms as a Voice Production Company for radio and television advertising. TV commercials are produced for Plumb’s Supermarkets, Horizon Group, Hackley Hospital, Speedy Lube, Dan Cooper Auto, Wesco, and various midwest radio stations.
1984
RC Productions adds media planning and client service assistants to help with budget planning, forecasting and Arbitron media analysis, and introduces their new RC Productions, Inc. agency logo.
1988
RC Productions purchases the Muskegon Coupon Clipper franchise, a four-color direct mail publication covering the Muskegon area. The Kalamazoo franchise Coupon Clipper is purchased the following year and continues to add clients in West Michigan.
1989
RC Productions leases a 1,200 sq. ft. office space at 752 W. Pine Street in downtown Muskegon and opens its doors as a full-service advertising agency. A full-time graphic designer and account manager are hired.
1992
Randy Crow purchases a 3,000 sq. ft. building on Lakeshore Drive in Muskegon. The building has been vacant and run down. “Work by day, remodel by night” is good friend, Bob Yost’s motto. RC Productions moves into the new, remodeled location 90 days later.
1994
Tim Achterhoff and Mark Schultz join and West Michigan’s first digital recording studio is added – Abbey Road Recording Studios. All audio production is brought in-house utilizing RC’s state-of-the-art recording technology.
1996
RC Productions purchases and tears down a house next door to build an addition for the newly purchased Signs By Jim (sign vendor). Jim Freed joins the staff and a new division called Source One Signs is born.
1997
Source One Signs purchases an electrostatic printer and laminator, and dives into the new world of full color, large format digital printing.
1998
Source One Signs builds a 10,000 sq. ft. facility on Airline Road / I-96 Fruitport. Six months after moving in, they sell the building to Lamar Outdoor and move back to Lakeside and rejoin RC Productions agency team.
1999
RC Productions builds a second addition to the Lakeshore Drive building and hires additional staff.
2001
The graphics department is staffed with the latest technology and, now five designers.
2002
RC Productions adds complete in-house video editing and on-location camera services. The Abbey Road Recording Studios name changes to RC Productions Video & Audio.
2003
RC Productions expands the creative center and adds additional account managers to service clients throughout the U.S.
2004
Source One Signs purchases the Jeti 3300, one of only 15 machines in the U.S.
2005
Source One Signs expands and changes its name to Source One Digital.
2007
RC Productions grows to 9,000 sq. ft. of space, expanding the Creative Department and providing more conference rooms and work stations. Source One Digital moves to a 25,000 sq. ft. facility in Norton Shores to make room for current and future growth.
2012
Source One Digital expands with $3.5 million of new equipment and technology.
2015
The Gear Group division, a promotional products and apparel provider, is launched.
2017
Source One Digital announces the addition of the “Red Box” printer to enhance its custom window films, wallpaper and décor product offerings. We’re now one of only two companies in the U.S. to offer this level of customized solutions.
2018
RC Productions, Inc. acquires 50-year-old Muskegon landmark Trophy House and its divisions (Jones Sports, Lindback Distributing, and Havana Bob’s) with the goal of expanding their client base and improving product selection and services.
2019
The Gear Group and Trophy House merge services and product offerings. Now referred to as Trophy House Brands, the company provides businesses and individuals across the country with promotional products, awards, and custom apparel.
2024
The RCP Marketing agency is sold, and RC Productions expands its corporate team with the promotion of Michael Davis as CMO. Scott Lyon becomes senior software architect. Alex Frasier joins as a full-time digital designer supporting all the RC divisions.
2026
CreativeFX™ launches an accredited continuing education course through AEC Daily, helping architects, engineers and design professionals better understand the creative and functional potential of custom window film.
2026
RC Productions reaches its 45th year from the 1981 founding, with the corporate family centered around Source One Digital and TH Brands.
